The major label massive come through with something for the heads here, hooking us up with f-f-f-fresh reissues of Eric B & Rakim's four iconic studio albums. Their 1992 swansong "Don't Sweat The Technique" came out to diminished fanfare back in the day, overshadowed by the creative differences which would quickly put pay to any further collaborations. The beautiful gift of hindsight has righted that wrong though, and "Don't Sweat The Technique" is now widely regarded by the hip hop heads as the duo's finest. Hard hitting and jazzy, the beats are more refined, defined and developed while Rakim's lyricism is off the fucking hook. I could wax lyrical about his hot lyricism all day, but just check out "The Punisher", "Casualties Of War" or "Know The Ledge" and have you lid flipped. A total masterpiece.
