Recorded in Los Angeles over Valentine’s Day weekend 2025, in the aftermath of the devastating fires, Ghost of American Psychonauts captures Bonnie Prince Billy in vivid form.
The set draws from the then recently released The Purple Bird, while also dipping into choice moments from the Bonnie Prince Billy songbook. It’s a live document with real presence and a strong sense of occasion.
The band is a brilliant lineup: Emmett Kelly on bass, Ryder McNair on piano, Dv DeVincentis on sax, London May on drums, Thomas Deakin on guitar and clarinet, plus Patrick Shiroishi and Jacob Duncan on sax. Dave Ferguson, producer of The Purple Bird, sings on Downstream.
